Scrapbook Expo

My mom, sister, and I went to Scrapbook Expo in Duluth, GA and had a really good time.  We took 2 classes - one was a QuickQuotes class which we always enjoy and have fun with; the other was put on by Scrapbook Expo and taught how to do all kinds of embossing - heat, dry, resist.

We also attended both Friday and Saturday all day crops - from 8:00am til midnight.  All together I got 24 layouts completed.  I finished my Hawaii Album from our November 2011 trip.  And I started the photographs from Laura's wedding, and the kids visit here to Augusta.

I bought laser cut layouts for these photos from Hawaii.  I love the palm trees.

This layout used the MME Kraft Fun Day collection.  I love these pictures of the kids!

I love "book" papers to use in layouts.  These photos are from River Walk with the kids, and Glenn's mom, Rose.

I bought this embossing folder at the Expo - love the tree!

Love these butterflies from Jenni Bowlin, too!

Pinwheels are easy and fun to make, and they make great embellishments.

This is Tyler and Allison in the back yard walking out to see the cows.

Donna had the idea that I should "carve" something in the paper like it was on a tree.  I think it turned out good!

On the drive to Savannah, we were feeling a little goofy.

These photos are from the venue Laura and Glen chose for their wedding - Dunham Farms in Savannah.

Love that I had music paper with the "Wedding March."

Lake Sinclair

We spent the day at Lake Sinclair yesterday - Duane and Peggy were camping by Sinclair Marina.  We fished and rented a pontoon for the afternoon.  We got caught in a rain storm coming back to the campsite, and the pontoon just didn't want to go very fast!

Glenn was the big fisherman today!  He caught 3 catfish - released one due to size, but the other 2 were a pretty good catch.

Very nice day to spend on the lake!

New Cards

Here are a couple of new cards I made last night for the Club CK Weekly Card Challenge.  I used my Fiskars star punch on the first card, backed them with yellow cardstock, and added some Basic Grey flags.  I inked the punched out stars with Quick Quotes Powder Puff ink (Mocha Mama)and used Basic Grey chipboard letters.

I used my Martha Stewart butterfly punch for this card, inked the punched butterfly with Quick Quotes Powder Puff ink (Lemonade)and used my Viva Pearl Pen (Cream) to make the antennae and body.  I also used Mocha Mama ink to outline the body.  I used a tree and alpha stickers from My Little Shoebox cardstock stickers; and last I used a border punch at the bottom of the card.

New Baby

This is the newest little baby on the farm behind our house.  First saw him yesterday, and had to wait for the mama to feed in the pasture behind our house so I could take his picture.  Isn't he cute?

Containers!

My family and I have been eating lots of nuts lately, so I had several containers that I thought would make good storage for some scrapping embellishments.  I added some paper, lace, flowers, and other embellishments to dress it up.  I think they turned out pretty cute.  They look nice sitting on my baker's rack!

I used the Recollections lace with adhesive that worked out very well.  I love the little felt bird too!

For this canister, I used the Paula Dean papers I bought at Michael's in the dollar bin.  I used my banner punch, and butterfly punch; also used more of the Recollections lace.  I added some bling to the butterflies, and used the Viva Pearl Pen on the ends of my flags.

Wedding

I realized I have not posted photos from Laura's and Glen's wedding.  Beautiful day for an outside wedding in Savannah!  The ceremony was sweet, great food and dancing at the reception, and tons of photos taken!

It was so nice to have Michele, Tyler, Allison, and Rose at our house; and great to be able to spend time with family at the wedding.  The 4 days that the kids were here just went by way too fast.  I want them to come back and be able to stay a lot longer!

History Lesson

I went to my mom's house this past week-end.  We visited with my great uncle Bill who is my maternal grandmother's brother.  We had a very nice visit catching up.  And I know you will not believe this, but I forgot to take any photos!  How did that happen?  Neither my mom, my sister, or me thought to snap any pics . . . a little unbelievable since we are all scrappers!

We went back to my sisters house and my dad had given her a couple of boxes of photos.  We sat there for 4 hours going through photos, writing on the back who was in the photo.  I'm glad my mom and dad were there because if one didn't know who was in the picture, the other did know.  It was fun, but tiring!

Here's where the history lesson comes in . . . after that, we went to my mom's house and there was a box in her closet that she wanted to find out what was inside.  A plethora of notes on our family history on my mom's side of the family!  Joy! We spent some time the next day copying information so that both me and my sister both had it in our hot little hands!

My goal is to start a blog about each of my family lines, plus Glenn's family lines.  I'd like to put information on it such as birth dates, place of birth, jobs, burial sites, etc.  I also want to include photos that we have on hand.  I think it will be a good starting tool so that if anyone in the family has anything to add, it will be available.  I really love going through photos, and family history information to find out my roots.
