Beach Day at Tybee Island

I drove down to Tybee Island yesterday for a day at the beach with Lynda and Aiden.  The day was beautiful and full of sunshine.  Aiden played in the water almost the entire time!  And the water was warm - not like the cold Pacific Ocean!  I'm so happy to be back on the east coast with warmer water . . .
We found some type of bug by the water - can't figure out what it is - if anybody knows please comment and let me know!
Took a photo of the Tybee Lighthouse - I really want to climb that one of these days.

Memories

My goodness . . . this photo brings back a lot of memories!  It was taken in 1988 - the year Tyler was born.  Mom-mom hired a photographer, and we set up in her back yard.  She had a beautiful back yard full of flowers, trees, vegetable garden - talk about a green thumb!  I believe every one of us girls' dresses was handmade either by mom-mom or mama.

thinking*through*design has a new blog site and their first challenge was to use analogous color on a layout.  I thought this photo would be perfect to use blues and greens.

Here is a link to the challenge on their site:

Supplies used:

Pattern Paper: Colorbok
Cardstock: Bazzill
Twine: MME
Flag Punch: Fiskars
Flowers: Michaels Dollar Bins
Journal Card: MME

Card Sketch - Frosted Designs

I made this card for the Frosted Designs Card Sketch - you can find it here:

I made the flower from a Fiskars star punch.  I punched 4 shapes and then layered them and added a button.  Other supplies used are: Cardstock from Bazzill, Kraft cardstock, all of the printed paper is from MME Lost & Found Breeze.  I don't remember the manufacturer of the "friend" embellishment - I threw away the packaging . . .

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day even though my kids were not with me :(
My mom and sister visited for the week-end and we were able to scrap!  Donna worked on her cruise album, Mama worked on some Red Hat layouts, and I played around with Donna's Texture Boutique.  And now I want one!!

Above picture is the Texture Boutique.  Below you can see on the orange paper the pattern I made - daisies.  I then added some pearl drops in the center of each daisy with my Viva Pearl Pen. I mounted it on some chevron paper, added a banner, then added a photo from Hawaii.  Very simple layout, but I love it and I especially love how that Texture Boutique works!

Daddy and Rick were here also - they hung out with Glenn while the girls scrapped.  They found a good seafood place at River Walk.  They said the oysters, shrimp, and hush puppies were delicious!

Frosted Design Challenge for NSD

One of the fun challenges at Frosted Designs was a color and theme card - you can find it here:

I chose the travel theme, with the main colors of tan, yellow, and green/blue.  I used 2 different ribbons I received in a RAK, and my stamped & colored image is the cute little bird from Stampabilities - poteeka bird.

Thanks for looking!

Garden

Oh my goodness, I was so tired from scrapping all day yesterday - 12 hours of scrapping, 14 layouts and 3 cards completed!

BUT, not too tired to get our first garden going!  We bought this planter box kit from Home Depot, and it was so easy to put together - no tools required!  I lay down fabric to help keep weeds under control, then put in the soil.  I think I probably have too much in this little area - it's a 4'x4' - but I just couldn't help myself!  I have 3 tomato plants, 2 red bell peppers, 1 yellow pepper, and 1 green pepper, 2 okra plants, 1 squash, 2 cucumbers, 1 cantaloupe, 2 watermelon, and 2 pumpkins!  And in the side pots, I have rosemary, apple mint, and spearmint (you know, for all those mint julips!)

I'm looking forward to having some fresh veggies, and some fruit.  Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have any critters come along and eat my crops!

More Creations!

I have been having so much fun today and I am getting so much done!

All of these are for the online crop at Big Picture Classes except for the 2nd one down - that is for the weekly layout challenge at Club CK (use stars on your layout).

Layouts

These are a couple of layouts I've done for Big Picture Classes online crop for NSD.

The first one was to frame a fabulous photo - I used Tyler and Allison's photo from our Hawaii trip.

This one was to do a layout about reflection - I chose photos of Michele on our Hawaii trip and reflected how I like the way she is independent and just goes out and lives her life the way she wants.  I admire that about her.

Criss-Cross Card

This was a fun challenge at Frosted Designs!  Find it here:
Make a criss-cross card and add bling!
I made another birthday card - can never have too many of these. My bling is the candle flames, and also on her finger.

NSD - Another Creation

This card was made from another Frosted Design challenge - Heather's strips of paper challenge which you can find here:

I used strips of paper from my stash, my Fiskars punch, and a cupcake die cut that I've had for soooooo long! The Happy Birthday sticker is from Mrs. Grossman's.

National Scrapbooking Day

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!  I'm hoping to post a lot of layouts on my blog today in honor of NSD.  Here's the first:
This layout is a challenge from Frosted Designs - you can find it here http://frosteddesigns.blogspot.com/2012/05/debbies-pattern-paper-challenge.html

I'm scrapping our trip to Hawaii last November.  I used Graphic 45's Tropical Travelogue Collection - Botanica, Seaside Holiday, and Exotic Destination.  I just love those papers!
The challenge called for just patterned paper, no cardstock.  I usually mat most all my photos with cardstock, so this was different for me.  I also used some lace from my grandmother's collection, some brads from Bo Bunny, my Marvy Uchida tag punch, 2 EK Success flower punches.  I also stitched on the layout.  My journaling tag is tucked underneath the flamingos.

Thanks for looking!

Happy, happy, happy . . . .

I was able to make a card and a layout today . . . the card is for the weekly card challenge at Club CK (make an encouragement card and send it to a friend), and the layout was for a challenge from Club CK also - a recipe challenge: use 3 pieces of patterned paper (1/3 of each), one photo, letter stickers for a title, 3 groups of clustered embellishments, and a baker's dozen of journaling strips or tags.  I really like doing recipe challenges - they are definitely my favorite.

Saturday, May 5th, is National Scrapbooking Day!  I'm hoping to spend at least half the day in my room scrapping . . . Glenn has to work part of the day, so that makes it a little easier :)

I've signed up for an online crop at BPC (Big Picture Classes).  I've never participated in an online crop so it will be interesting and fun.  A lot of peeps at Club CK have signed up as well.

Organization in the Scrap Room!

Oh joy!  I finally got the scrap room organized!  I'm very happy with the way it turned out.  Glenn painted the walls a light blue for me - Delicate Mist from Behr paint!  Very soothing, relaxing, peaceful - great atmosphere to create awesome projects!!

I just bought the baker's rack from a lady off of craigslist.  It seemed perfect to hold my scrapbooks, but now that I put them there, the rack seems so small, and no more room to add more scrapbooks!  Might have to rethink this.
