Halloween Party & Pumpkin Carving

This is the first year in a long time that Glenn and I have carved pumpkins. Tyler, Allison and Gerit were here carving too! The only thing missing was Michele :(

This is Glenn's pumpkin:
These are Tyler's (John Wayne), Allison's (Day of the Dead), and Gerit's pumpkins:

This is my very traditional pumpkin:

We also went to Jon & Lindie Nelson's Halloween party - there were a lot of great costumes and they had a band - it was a lot of fun! We went as a motorcycle gang with Jim & Danielle, and Dan & Pam.

Sketchy Thursdays 10.27.11

Another beautiful sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. I used to never scrap just one photo per page - I thought I was wasting space! I've really been challenging myself to use one photo with fun elements and embellishments around it.

This photo was taken at the Delta outside of Sacramento (Walnut Grove). We camped with our friends and their children. It was Jessica's birthday and she collects dolls. We went to one of the stores in town and she used her birthday money to buy a doll. That is Chelsea, her cousin, in the photo with her.

Product used:
Papers: Moxie, Bo Bunny, Bazzill
Banner: Three Bugs in a Rug
Title: Three Bugs in a Rug
Journal Spot: Three Bugs in a Rug
Ribbon: Prairie Bird Boutique
Butterfly Punch: Fiskars

Sketchy Thursdays 10.20.11 Sketch

I have to admit that journaling is not one of my strong suits when I'm scrapping. I like to just get the facts written on the layout - who, date, where. I like that Sketchy Thursdays is helping me put more thought into the journaling part of my layout!

This photo was taken at Tyler's birthday dinner. It was at The Old Place. I've been there many times, but never eaten in the back room, which used to be the post office! I love how they turned that room into a private dining area for larger parties.

Products used:

My Minds Eye - papers, and embellishment
Bazzill paper
Cardstock and ledger paper - ?
Ribbon Flower - ribbon from Prairie Bird Boutique, button from scrap swap
Decorator Pins - handmade from beads in my stash

Frosted Designs: Fabulous Friday Challenge

The Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge has become one of my favorite because you use the stash you have on hand! Wonderful! I've got a LOT of stash!

For 10.21.11 they posted a color challenge. Use only the 4 colors listed: pumpkin, brick red, purple, and green. All the great fall colors! I decided to create a card this time instead of a layout:

Products used:
Bazzill Cardstock
Ribbon - ScrapGoods Green Linen Twist
Button - from a scrap swap
Martha Steward Owl Punch
Crimper
Tag is from a class taken at Scrapbook Expo (can't remember company)

Frosted Designs - Fabulous Friday Challenge

I am loving the Frosted Designs challenges! This layout is from the Fabulous Friday Challenge 10.14.11 - use fancy trim on your card, layout, or project. I used Making Memories Cheeky Trims (the red trim). I also used a lot of products from my latest Maya Road warehouse purchase, and some other items from the October Toss at ClubCK!

Fun Week-end

We had a great week-end! We went to Thousand Oaks High School football game on Friday night - Jim and Danielle's son Scott plays. TO beat Agoura.

This is Scott and his grandmother (Danielle's mom) after the game. Scott played really good!

After the game, we went to the beach. We stayed at Faria Friday night, then moved on Saturday morning to Rincon Beach. Saturday was a bit overcast and cloudy, but we had a good time playing dominos and Glenn got out on Jim's paddle board.

Beautiful sunset Saturday night.

Sunday was a beautiful, sunny day (can you believe in the middle of October? It felt like a June day). Glenn tried the paddle boarding again.

Glenn and Mike
Thanks for sharing a fun week-end, Jim and Danielle! We are hoping to get the camper out more often now.

4. flowers
5. misting or inks
6. buttons
7. stickers
8. rubons

Here is my layout:

I used the color yellow, ribbon, chipboard, and buttons. I love recipe challenges!

Sassy Lil Sketches

I have been having so much fun scrapping from sketches. Takes a little pressure off! This sketch is from Sassy Lil Sketches. I had just found their site and was enjoying their challenges when they posted that they would be closing the site at the end of this month :(

So this is their Sassy Send Off Sketch #7:

I used it to do another layout from our motorcycle trip to Arizona to see Morgan, Joan, and Nate. I'm way behind in finishing up that album of layouts!

Sketchy Thursdays Nov. GDT Challenge

This is my layout for the November Guest Design Team Challenge.

I really like the sketch - I chose to use 2 photos instead of 1 (just because I really like these photos of the kids, and me and Glenn!).

They also asked that we list what we are thankful for in our lives; and also use 5 leaves somewhere on the layout.

I think I will probably use this sketch for other layouts - I love it's simplicity, but yet you can dress it up with lots of embellishments if you'd like.

Here is the original sketch:

Products used:

Paper from Bazzill, Jenni Bowlin
Sticker strip - Scenic Route
Arrow - Scenic Route
Tag - Studio 112
Alpha stickers - ?
Leaf/Stem - Sizzix Die Cut

More Heritage

Here is another heritage layout for my scrapbook. This is a photo of my mom's grandfather on her paternal side - William Russell Wolfe. My plan is for my layout to be on the left page of the scrapbook and on the right side I would like to write about the person - date of birth/death, where they were born and lived, what they did for a living, etc.

So Mama, if you are reading this - do you have any of these details? I keep forgetting to ask you when we talk!

It's a very simple layout, but I like it that way. It's a very nice photo of my great-grandfather.

Sketchy Thursdays 10.6.11 Challenge

I loved the sketch for the 10.6.11 design at Sketchy Thursdays. Using 3 photos on a layout seems to work well for me, and I usually stick to the number of photos used on the sketch for my layout! Here's the sketch:

And here is my layout:

Products used:
Kraft Cardstock
Red Cardstock from Bazzill
Travel Mileage Chart from WRMK
Brown Squared paper from Pebbles Inc.
Grain Woodland Birds paper from DCWV
Button - received from a scrap swap
Music Note - Paperclips
Alpha Tiles - Doodlebug Design
Memorabilia from the trip
-----------------------------------------

My mom and sister met me in Nashville, TN back in April 2009 - we had so much fun exploring the City, seeing all the sights, and walking all downtown. We toured the Country Music Hall of Fame, Fort Nashboro, saw a show at the Ryman Auditorium . . . took a trolly tour of the city which was great!

Just wish we would have had more time!

Tyler and Allison

They looked so cute getting ready for their trip to Pismo!

Soccer Star

Aiden is a soccer star! Glenn and I saw him play last Saturday - he hustled and played hard!

Michele's Heart is in Utah

Glenn and I helped Michele move back up to Utah. She just loves it there - cold, snow, ice, big animals in the road . . .
She's got a basement studio that has a great bathroom (big tub), large kitchen, and lots of storage - awesome for a studio.
I wish her nothing but happiness in her new place, new job, and meeting new friends. Miss her terribly, but know that she's just a phone call, text, or skype away!

The hot air balloons come very close to her place. This is looking out from her front door.

My baby girl with her baby, Davis - all snuggly on the sofa.

Entertainment center!

Nice relaxing bathtub!
