Downtown Los Angeles

I went to Los Angeles yesterday with Tyler's girlfriend, Allison, her mom and her sister. We caught the Metro train (which I had not ridden before) at Universal and took it to Union Station. First stop was Olvera Street (which again I had not been to) and ate lunch at one of the restaurants. A pitcher of margaritas later, we started walking to the fashion district. I've been downtown before but never really looked at all the buildings. Some really beautiful architectural details! We went to Santee Alley - which was sooooo crowded. Some of the shops were closed, which really surprised me since it was a Sunday. We had a fun day. Stayed down there about 5 hours. I think we must have walked about 10 miles! Good exercise! Plus Allison had us walking the stairways at the Metro Stations! Feel the burn!

Looked like hieroglyphics

loved the fire escapes

more fire escapes

this was a door that had letters
and numbers randomly placed
on it - looked like printer plates

the bottom of this was painted
on the building and gradually
to the top it was almost like
it was carved into the building

Very Cool!

I loved the rounded
corners of this building

of course it wouldn't
be complete without
Mannywood!

Awesome Day for a Ride

Really, what day isn't a good day for a ride here in Southern California? We rode down to Santa Monica today, went to Bartel's Harley Davidson and to the pier with Jim and Cindy. We ate at Bubba Gumps - sooooooo good! I had pulled pork sliders (on Hawaiian Rolls) and Glenn had the fish and chips that he said were really good. We shared a cup of clam chowder, which wasn't the best we'd had, but it was still tasty.

We walked down to the end of the pier, wondering how many people really catch anything. We've never seen anyone actually pull a fish up . . .

Rode back home on PCH and traffic was backed up for miles . . . that's the only bad part; but it was nice to get on the bike in the sunshine. Very nice day:) Oh yeah, we stopped at TCBY for ice cream on the way home!!! yummy . . .
