Scrappy Monday

I was able to scrap today - should have probably been doing housecleaning, but . . . . hehehe! Scrapping is so much more fun!

Kelly dropped some photos off to me last week and this photo strip was in the pile. We did this at the Ventura Harbor at a photo booth there. I used some of the 6x6 papers that Hope gave me last Friday night. I also misted the stars using a mask.

This next one was for the Club CK issue challenge #5 for Jan/Feb 2012 - use the colors brown, teal and purple. NOT an easy combination for me . . . I can't remember the year the photo was taken, but we went to dinner with Marty, Dawn, Gary, and Julie to the Odyssey in the Valley. I also used some of the 6x6 papers that Hope gave me, along with some flowers in my stash. I punched out some butterflies and used the Viva Pearl Pen to dress up the butterflies and the flowers.

And I did another Valentine's Day card for the weekly card challenge at Club CK - using a sketch that Laurie provided. Not sure who will receive this one, but someone in the family will get it in a couple of weeks!

New Journal

For the Fabulous Friday Challenge, Frosted Designs is having a recipe challenge - I LOVE recipe challenges! This one calls for 3 patterned papers, 2 buttons, and 1 word title. I needed to make a new journal for myself since I'm almost at the end of my other one, so I created this cover for the challenge:

Supplies used:
Composition Notebook
Paper: Bo Bunny and Basic Grey
Fiskars Punch
Mirror Butterfly: Heidi Swapp
Twine: Martha Stewart
Flowers: Bazzill

Meeting Peeps!

So, CHA is at Anaheim January 29-31. Erika, one of the moderators at Club CK posted that she would be coming out to attend and kind of reporting back to us all of the new and exciting papers, tools, embellishments, etc. Andrea (Ladyofthelake), one of the Club CK members who lives in Northridge (the one peep I've met) suggested that the Southern California girls should drive to Anaheim and have dinner with Erika. We decided on Friday the 27th since Erika and her husband would be arriving that afternoon. We met at Storyteller's Restaurant at the Grand Californian Hotel & Resort and had a really fun dinner. It felt like we had known each other since we've talked so much on the member board. Hope and her husband drove over from Murietta, Andrea and her husband and son drove from Northridge, and I came straight after work - it took me 2 1/2 hours; I left the Reagan Library at 5:3opm and arrived at the Hotel at 8:00pm. They were so nice and waited for me before ordering their food! I just wish we would have had more time to talk and do some scrapping! Hopefully next time!

Here's a photo of Mickey Mouse that was on the receipt pouch. It's really a dark photo, but it was so cute!

Here are the girls: Andrea, Hope, Erika and me.

Here's me and Erika. She is so funny, and sweet!

Here are the men: Ben (Andrea's son), David (Andrea's husband), Mark (Hope's husband) and Dave (Erika's husband).

We really had some good conversations and it was just unfortunate that we couldn't spend more time with each other; but now we have something to look forward to - we need to get together for a week-end of scrapping!

ScrapFit - Workout #60

For the ScrapFit Workout #60, show what simple little thing means so much.

We love to go camping with our friends, the Adams Family, at the Delta outside Sacramento, more specifically at Walnut Grove. For several years we rented houseboats, and we've also camped. There is a campground called Koket and it is so peaceful to camp by the water. We just relax, enjoy the scenery, eat, play games, and splash in the water. Nothing fancy - just simple FUN!

Club CK Challenges

The current weekly card and layout challenges on the Club CK member board are:

For the card - use 3 circles for your card design. I decided to make a birthday card since I am always needing one. I really like how this turned out. I crimped the Happy Birthday music paper and inked the edges.

And for the layout, the challenge was to use mini papers - like the kind you get in the 4x6 stacks. I used DCWV Tahiti Beach Stack. These photos are from summer 2011 when Kelly and I went to Paradise Cove for the day. It was a beautiful day!

PAINT on a layout!

Another Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - use paint!

Here is a layout I created today using blue and pink paint. I used the blue paint on the edges of the 12x12 paper. The pink paint is in 2 places - I used the top of a bottle cap to make a circle around the word "Adorable" and then I made a mat for the round photo at the bottom of the layout.

I don't use paint very often on my layouts, but I always like the way it turns out when I do.

Thanks for looking!!

Valentine's Cards

I love making Valentine's Day cards for my friends and family!

I used Frosted Designs Card Sketch #10 to make this first card; you can find the sketch here: (http://frosteddesigns.blogspot.com/).

I love pink and black together, with a touch of red; I also love the music paper which I ran through the crimper.

And here are three other cards I made today - trying to get a head start!

Layout and Card

I did a layout and a card today - both are weekly challenges on the Club CK member board.

The layout challenge was to use stripes and dots on your layout. These photos were taken in May 2011 when Donna and Lynda came out for a Las Vegas trip. We had a lot of fun and did a LOT of walking!

The card challenge was a recipe challenge - use one or more of the following: pink, purple, ice cream, softball, soccer, and monkeys. I made the ice cream cone using kraft and pink cardstock, and added a cherry on top! Recipe challenges are my favorites!

Spring Semester Starts Tonight!

Spring semester starts tonight for me at Moorpark College. I am taking 2 classes - Intro: Information Systems on Monday nights, and Intro to Digital Media on Tuesday nights. I'm looking forward to both. I'm hoping I don't get overwhelmed and have to drop one of them.

Love Joy Paper Challenge

I loved Amanda's January sketch challenge on her blog - lovejoypaper.com - and this is what I came up with. My friend moved to Tennessee about 7 years ago. She sent us the kids school photos with their Christmas card so I decided to scrap those. I haven't done a school-themed layout in a long, long time. I like the way it came out - thanks for the challenge Amanda!

Happy New Year!

Glenn and I spent the New Year week-end with Jim, Danielle, Mike and Susan at Jim's family cabin in Wrightwood, CA. The weather was so nice and we had a great time with some really great friends.

Bob Seger

Tyler and Allison gave Glenn and I tickets to see Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band at Staples Center on Wednesday, December 28th.

We saw him about 27 years ago (either in Savannah or in Los Angeles - we can't remember where)! Oh man, he is still just as good now as he was back then. We danced and sang along with every song!

Thanks Ty and Al!

Back to Christmas

Christmas 2011
We had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. Michele was home from Utah, Tyler and Allison spent time with us . . . the only bad thing - I was sick all day Christmas. I didn't cook at all and I felt really bad about that - it was a different kind of Christmas day.
