Happy 30th!

Happy 30th Anniversary to us! On February 13, 1982, Glenn and I were married by my Uncle Lamar in Roberta, Georgia at my mom's and dad's house. My sister was my matron of honor, and my brother-in-law was Glenn's best man. Funny story about that: Glenn's brother, Duane, was supposed to be best man. He was driving up from Florida and decided to go off-roading in his Jeep. Well, he got stuck and missed the wedding. I think he arrived 4 hours late! LOL!

30 years later and here we are - celebrating in San Diego at a little cottage in the Mission Beach area. The Mission Bay was a block away on one side, and the Pacific Ocean was 3 blocks on the other side. Cute, cute cottage and within walking distance to restaurants, bars, an amusement park, and walking trails. We had a great time!

New Layout and Card

We got back home yesterday from our Anniversary Adventure late afternoon. Glenn sat down to study and he likes no noise around him when he's studying, so what better excuse than to go to the scraproom! I finished these 2 projects for the Club CK Weekly Layout Challenge and the Weekly Card Challenge - both hosted by Robyn.

For the layout challenge, Robyn asked us to design our own magazine cover. I have some photos of us riding bikes along the coast of Kauai, so decided to use Bicycling Magazine. There is more word phrases on the layout than I usually like, but I like the colors and photos.

For the card challenge, Robyn asked us to use the following: a bee, the word "bee," and flower(s). I don't have a bee stamp, or punch, or die cut, so I found a free picture online that I downloaded and printed out. The yellow checked background paper is MME Miss Caroline, and the strip under the bee is the opposite side of the same paper.

Yay! I received an email yesterday from Megan Hoeppner at Creating Keepsakes . . . she said the magazine will be featuring my "cute 1-hr challenge project on the CK blog tomorrow." That is so exciting and it really makes me happy! Check it out here:

Anniversary Card

I made this card tonight to give to Glenn for our anniversary . . . now I'm having second thoughts that it might be too feminine??? What do you think? I really love the butterfly, but not sure what he'll think about it. I'll sleep on it tonight, and if I have time I'll make another one maybe. Hmmmmm . . . . .

BTW - I used the card sketch at Frosted Designs: http://www.frosteddesigns.blogspot.com/2012/01/card-sketch-11.html

Supplies:
Paper - Recollections
Butterfly - Recollections
Twine - MME Follow Your Heart
Border Punch - from a Club CK border swap
I Love You sentiment - Scenic Route Papers
Material under Butterfly - from a scrap swap

Scrapping Mania!

It's been so much fun this week scrapping! I'm really enjoying the design process and encompassing new trends and papers - I'm LOVING the MME lines Miss Caroline and On the Bright Side. Graphic 45 papers are another favorite, especially for my Hawaii photos that I just got developed - I need to go back to the scrapbook store for more!

This first card was for the Weekly Card Challenge at Club CK - use a piece of jewelry as inspiration - I used one of my grandmother's brooches. And you'll notice in a lot of my cards and layouts that I am also loving my Fiskars banner punch.

This second project was the One Hour Challenge on Club CK - use pink in a card, layout, or project. Since Glenn and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary next week, I decided to make a decor item for the house.

This is another layout of Aiden (it's in another post on my blog) - this is using a sketch from a friend at Club CK; and also for a challenge at ScrapFit.

There are weekly Issue Challenges at Club CK by Erika and this is for this week's: use a calendar on your layout. I just now had Halloween photos developed (I'm a little behind). This was a fun Halloween party we went to dressed as a motorcycle gang - not too much of a stretch as far as motorcycle clothing goes!

This is one of my favorite layouts. I made this for the Weekly Layout Challenge at Club CK - use game pieces on your layout. We love to play Mexican Train and we teach our friends how to play. We took it camping at the beach and played under the awning - it was an overcast day and I think we played for about 5 hours! Of course, we had some Bloody Mary's along the way:)

THANKS FOR LOOKING!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is my Dad's 79th Birthday! Happy birthday to you . . . . I talked to him this morning (he lives in Georgia) and he sounded good. These are the days that I wish I lived closer so I could spend the day with him, take him to lunch, and just hang out.

Below is a photo of us almost 3 years ago . . . my dad, me, my mom, and my sister.

Color Challenge

The February Color Challenge at Club CK was a tough one - use yellow, gray, and cream. I wasn't sure how I was going to combine those together at first, but I searched through my photos and found this of Aiden from 4 years ago, and thought it would work. I've been playing around with it for several days, and really like how it turned out!
