TURKEY DAY!

This is me, Glenn, Bruce and Debbie Shirey Thanksgiving Day 2007. We went to Laughlin, NV last year on the motorcycles and had a blast. If you are any where near Laughlin and Route 66, you have to visit Oatman, AZ. It's a blast from the past and wild burros roam the town. We also met a few large turtles!

Glenn and I were going to ride the bikes back to Laughlin this year with Michele and Tyler, but the weather is not agreeing with us. It has been raining yesterday and today and turned a little chilly. We are going to hang around the house this year. We'll eat turkey dinner at Melody and Jerry's with Kim, Ron, Aiden, Ashton and Kevin and Ethan. We are certain to play some Mexican Train afterwards!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Ashton

Glenn and I babysat Ashton Friday night when Kim, Ron, and Aiden went to the Westlake Promenade for the arrival of Santa Claus and the lighting of the Christmas Tree. We had a good time with Ashton. He's such a happy boy and was all smiles.

Glenn is going to make a really good grandfather (one of these days - not any time soon)!

Here's the little man before he fell asleep in my arms.

When Aiden got back home, he took me to his room to show me his new garbage truck. We also talked about volcanoes. We read an I Spy book, but I didn't have my glasses so it was really hard for me to spy anything!

He and Glenn started playing with his toys and when it was time for bed, he asked Glenn to tuck him in! It was so sweet!!

SURVIVOR!

Thursday nights are Survivor night! Glenn and I get together with Kelly Miller to eat and watch the show Survivor - Kelly's been watching since the beginning and Glenn and I have been watching on and off from the beginning. We will go out to eat, or eat at one of our houses. Last Thursday we ate at Kelly's - it was good grub! And Survivor was the best that night that we've seen in a LONG time!

An Apple A Day . . . or maybe more

The apple tree is FULL of delicious red apples - I think they are McIntosh. Chef Glenn made the first 2 pies today! I walked in to the house from work and it smelled so good with apples and cinnamon. I was ready to skip dinner and go straight to the apple pie!

We found the apple pie recipe in a cookbook that my mom gave to Michele when she moved to San Diego. It's easy and doesn't take forever to make the filling. Debbie Rainey gave Glenn her mother-in-laws recipe for pie crust which he's used a couple of times, but today he used store bought. Glenn told Tyler he's going to sell his tasty treat to Marie Calendars! I have to agree that it tastes delicious!

I think the exercising I did today just got wiped off the charts . . .

GAME NIGHT

Grandad and Nana are visiting us from Oregon. We had game night and played Mexican Train - dominos game. Melody was the big winner - we play a nickle a point.

Halloween

Aiden

Ashton

Allie

Now let's talk about something GOOD - Halloween!
Michele went to San Diego so we didn't get to see her costume - she was a cat. Tyler went out with friends so we didn't see his costume either - don't even know what he dressed up as.

Glenn and I went to Kim and Ron's to see Aiden and Ashton. Aiden dressed up as a garbage man and Ashton was a bear. Aiden's friend Allie went trick-or-treating with them.

We left candy out by the front door and most of it was gone when we got home. Glenn was a little upset because I didn't buy the kind of candy he liked! I just didn't want a lot of left over goodies and us sit around and eat it and gain 10 pounds each!!

Sad Tuesday

Well, being a Republican, today is now Sad Tuesday . . . :(
It's a sad day in the Van Evera household.
